Thanos, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a powerful Titan born on the planet Titan. Decades prior to the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Titan experienced overpopulation and resource depletion. Thanos proposed a solution – the random elimination of half the population – but was rejected and exiled.
Driven by his belief that his solution would save the universe from the same fate as Titan, Thanos embarked on a quest to collect the six Infinity Stones. Each stone granted its wielder immense power. He intended to use the combined power of the Stones, wielded through the Infinity Gauntlet, to erase half of all life in the universe with a single snap of his fingers.
A formidable warrior, Thanos possesses superhuman strength, durability, and stamina. He is also a skilled strategist and tactician, leading armies and outmaneuvering his opponents. His actions sparked conflict with the Avengers and other heroes, ultimately culminating in a devastating battle where he achieved his goal. However, his victory was short-lived, as the Avengers ultimately reversed his actions and defeated him.
